Regional High School Soccer being played this week.

Not having lost a match this season, Cedar Rapids Kennedy will prove to be a formidable challenge in the 3A Girls High School State Soccer Tournament. Teams will need to make it out of their Regional Tournaments, however, before moving on to the state games which begin on June 9 in Des Moines.

Regional play began around the state on Saturday, May 27 as bubble teams fought for a spot on the field next week. In Central Iowa, Des Moines East beat Roosevelt for the chance to go to Johnston and take on the Dragons on June 1. Johnston finished the season ranked seventh in the state after going 14-4 in the challenging CIML (with six teams finishing in the top-15).

ke on the third ranked Warriors. Waukee team earned their top-three spot by going 15-2 on the season.

Ankeny Centennial, ranked no. 2 in Iowa after going 16-1 this spring, will take on Mason City. Mason City earned their spot on the Ankeny field by beating Boone in the opening round 6-0.

Other regional second-round games in central Iowa will be played on June 1 when Urbandale travels to Valley to take on the no. 10 Tigers. Valley, starting the season ranked no. 5, finished ranked 14th with their 8-8 record. South East Polk will head to Ames to take on the tenth-ranked Little Cyclones and the 11th-ranked Maroons of Dowling Catholic take their 10-7 record to Ankeny to take on the Hawks.

The eight Regional tournaments will wrap up with championship games scheduled for June 6.
